Since learning of the École Polytechnique Massacre, this tragedy has stuck with me. After the massacre, the National Day of Remembrance and Action of Violence against Women (NDRAVAW) was implemented on the day it took place.
I realized that the NDRAVAW was not widely known, so I felt I had to raise awareness. These are images for an instagram campaign.
In researching NDRAVAW, I found there wasn't a consistent logo. So I created one. The logo is made up of a basic type treatment and an icon of a rose with a single fallen petal. The petal symbolizes the fallen victims of gender-based violence.
The photos are of the victims of the massacre as well as other women who have been murdered by domestic partners, friends, and strangers simply because they were women.
Women of all ages, classes, ethnicities, etc., are at risk of gender-based violence.
